The team

We are a team of inter-disciplinary researchers from across the University of Bristol. Below, you can find more information about our expertise and how each of us was involved in the project.

Dr Kim Straun is the Principal Investigator. She works in the School for Policy Studies and has expertise in qualitative and mixed methods physical activity research with children and young people (aged 6-21 years, including clinical populations). For this project, Kim led the planning and implementation of the research and was involved in all recruitment, data collection, analysis and dissemination activities.

Dr Miranda Armstrong is an Associate Professor in Physical Activity and Health in the School for Policy Studies, and is the Co-Investigator. Miranda has comprehensive experience in designing and implementing research in physical activity and health, including projects involving at risk populations. For this project, Miranda supported the planning and implementation of the project and was involved in data collection, analysis and dissemination.

Dr Laura Hull is a Research Fellow in the Bristol Medical School and is an advisor/collaborator on this project. Laura has extensive experience of working with autistic young people as part of participatory research projects. For this project, Laura is advising the project team to ensure the work considers the needs and preferences of neurodivergent teenage girls.

Freya Selman, is a Research Associate and PhD student in the School for Policy Studies, University of Bristol. On this project, Freya is acting as a lived experience advisor. She will advise the project team to ensure all aspects of the design, implementation and execution are aligned with the needs and preferences of neurodivergent teenage girls. Freya is also actively involved in data collection, analysis and dissemination of our project outputs.
